The Hollywood Reporter reviews the documentary films that benefited from Kickstarter

Austin Siegemund discussed the most successful documentary films that were funded on Kickstarter in an article for the Hollywood Reporter. In many ways, it has become the norm for documentary filmmakers to at least partially finance their film through Kickstarter. One benefit of Kickstarter success is that it can attract industry interest to a documentary. For example, when the Joan Didion documentary reached it’s Kickstarter goal in one day, the filmmakers received calls from the very financiers who were initially hesitant about the film.
