The New York Times Unveils Kickstarter Campaign For The Reissue of the 1975 NASA Graphics Standards Manual.

The New York Times unveiled the Kickstarter campaign for the Reissue of the 1975 NASA Graphics Standards Manual in an article by Kenneth Chang. Danne & Blackburn, a small design firm founded by Richard Danne and Bruce Blackburn, designed the Manual in 1975. The Manual called for a minimalist logo, nicknamed “the worm,” which was to be applied to all NASA publications, signs, aircraft, vehicles and spacecraft. NASA replaced “The Worm” logo in 1992, and it was a crushing blow to its designers. Now, Pentagram designers Hamish Smyth and Jesse Reed are bringing back this important piece of design history through Kickstarter. The campaign is being managed by Vann Alexandra.
